After the holidays I wanted to start making better/healthier choices wherever we can. We have started making our lunches on Sundays before the week. Everything we buy is from Aldi. I know Aldi has had a bad rep of not having very good produce, but they now have an organic section! I have had really good luck with their fruits and vegetables.
We boiled a dozen eggs. Drew eats his for breakfast and I eat mine as one of my small snacks throughout the day.
I love Aldi's Greek yogurt. This is compared to Chobani. Very high in protein and zero fat grams.
It's just the two of us so we find ten that have lids...this was a challenge in itself.
The first week we did this we used halos aka cuties, celery, and carrots.
The second week we used red grapes, carrots, and green peppers.
We like Aldi's Fit and Active skim milk cheese sticks, these are good snacks for our little one too.
Drew likes the Fit and Active strawberry banana yogurt. This is cheaper than the Greek yogurt.
We usually take leftovers from dinner the night before or we make turkey wraps on Sunday night that can be easily pulled to go in our lunches.
What healthy things do you like from Aldi? Comment below...
At church last Sunday our preacher taught on forgiveness. Here is a verse that stood out to me:
Jeremiah 29:11
King James Version (KJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Isaiah 40:31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Items Needed:
9. Cut and paste/glue ribbon on to cake. Remember to not actually glue the diaper because you will ruin them, just glue the ribbon together. Here is the ribbon I used both bought at Wal Mart.
10. Top your cake with what you choose and clip your bow on to the cake.
Scissors
65 diapers any size works (I used size 1 here)
Circle piece of cardboard
Paper towel roll
Tape
Rubber bands small and large
Wide ribbon
Ribbon skinnier than your other
Cake topper (shoes)
Bow/flower
Hot glue/double sided tape
Steps:
1. Roll diapers bind with small rubber bands. Make sure to roll any design on inside.
3. Tape paper towel roll to circle cardboard piece.
4. Start putting diapers together to make each layer. Start with bottom layer it will need 38 diapers. I used large rubber bands around each inner circle to keep together.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
4 sweet potatoes
1 teaspoon Stonemill garlic powder
1/4 cup Reggano Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Wrap your baking sheet in tin foil. (For less clean up.)
3. Wash your sweet potatoes and slice into desired shape (the thinner the better I tried French fries and it was really difficult for me to cut so I stuck to sliced)
4. Place potatoes into olive oil and place on covered baking sheet.
5. Evenly coat potatoes in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese.
6. Bake for 20 minutes. Take out and flip.
7. Set oven to broil and cook to your liking. I usually only leave in under broiler for 3 minutes.
When I originally started this blog I wanted it to be something that I used to journal what was going on in our lives. Not only has it been that, but it has been a way for me to share so much more . A big part of my life is my relationship with Christ. After praying about what to share and what I wanted to journal about I am hoping to post uplifting verse's that I have found encouraging throughout my walk with Christ. Today's verse was found yesterday while Drew and I were reading through Matthew.
Matthew 5:4
King James Version (KJV)
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
A good friend of mine's father passed away last week and this verse really struck home with me. At the time of the incident I did not have a really good verse to send or to pray on. I am hoping if I keep these in my blog I and others will have something to refer to. My hope is that they will become a part of my memory verse's as well.
Countdown began long before we left for Disney.
We left on New Year's Day. Flew out early that morning and arrived in Florida around noon. Here is us on the flight.
Since the first day was New Years we did not want to waste a day at the park. It would probably be really busy. Here is porter when we first got to the hotel.
We did make reservations for Ohana's at the Polynesian Resort.
Such a fun show! I recommend for all ages. This little guy was so worn out he fell asleep on the plane ride home.
Porter did great on the non stop flight. Here is Drew carrying Porter at the airport.
Thursday we went to Magic Kingdom. It was pretty busy at first but it rained after Porters nap so most people were leaving as us crazy people in our ponchos were coming back.
Here is our stroller with a makeshift poncho on top.
We stayed pretty dry.... Stopped raining by the light parade.
The second day we went to MGM. Although it was cold we still enjoyed ourselves. Here we are at the Disney Junior show.
Great first family trip to Walt Disney World.

We made this 'hand'made calendar for our families for Christmas this year. Started early to have different sizes. Printed the calendars on publisher. Used the cheap washable paint at Hobby Lobby, this paint is safe for babies. Laminated and bound together at Office Depot.
Here is how it turned out:
