Everything I post on here has been for myself either a recipe I don't want to forget or memories of my kids that I want to cherish. I started this blog to remember the stages of life for Porter but now with two it has been nice to look back at what I wrote two years ago and remember I made it through the newborn stage once.
Today, Parker is two weeks old! It is amazing how slow the nights seem but the time truly does fly.
Week One:
Parker would not sleep anywhere but on Drews chest. This was exhausting! We both were scared to death that she would fall off. This did not allow for either of us to get much sleep. Milk came in on day three and there was too much! My mom brought a pillow over that we placed first on the bed and Parker finally slept off of our chests. The next night we placed the pillow in the pack and play and she was out of our bed. This was our number one goal. To start off Parker was up eating every two hours.
️Porter had his moments that he wanted attention, which is understandable for a two year old, but overall he has been great with the baby. He says it is his baby and every morning and night he has to kiss her and hold her. We are all learning to be a family of four.
Week Two:
We have started the routine of feeding at 8 pm when Porter goes to bed. We swaddle Parker and out her in the pack and play around 8:45. She usually sleeps until 12am then feeds for about an hour and goes back to sleep until around 5am.
Parker's Birth Story
At 39 weeks I went in for my last OB appointment and the doctor was a little worried because I was consistently measuring small, through her measurements. We went for a sonogram to make sure we were not leaking any fluid. Everything looked good with the baby but we were measuring about two weeks small. This caused me to be a little nervous that my body would not be ready if I had to be induced. Our induce date was set for April 10.
Well little miss was not ready to come so the day came to be induced. Above is the last picture taken of me before heading to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital at 6:00am. After changing and being checked in the nurse came in to set my port/IV. Needless to say this may have been the most painful thing all day. I was stuck three times before they finally got a vein. (10 days later I still have bruises that do not feel good when you touch them.). Drew said you are going to need to toughen up. This is going to be a long day if you think this hurts.
As soon as the port was in the pitocin was started. Before I came to the hospital I was dilated at a 2 and 50% effaced. The doctor came in around 9:00 to break my water. I was a little nervous because I did not have an epidural yet. Did not hurt...
10:30 we got our epidural and both of our moms had arrived. Our nurse Juanita was amazing and very wise. I wanted to wait on the pain meds but she insisted it would be a while before I would get it if I didn't do it now. Thank goodness we got it because as soon as we did we progressed really fast. Before I knew it we were at a 6 and 100% effaced. The nurse said let me know if you start feeling pressure.
Drew and our moms ate lunch just in case she was coming soon.
12:30 I told the nurse I was feeling very "heavy." She came in and said the doctor would be by soon to check me. By the time the doctor was in she said oh this baby is ready. She said you definitely will not be pushing for three hours! (I pushed for a long time with my first one.) I looked at her and said don't you lie to me! Everyone started to get the delivery room ready. Which was a little weird because with my first no one got anything ready until I had been pushing for two hours. I remember looking at the clock and it was 1:00. I started pushing and Drew said Oh my gosh I can see the head! I was so shocked it was so close. Everyone was encouraging me to keep pushing and she was out. I looked at the clock and it was 1:05!!!! I was so in shock. It was a bit of an emotional overload for me. After they cleaned her off she was placed on my chest. Again I was a little confused and in shock so Drew ended up taking her.
On April 10, 2015 Parker Anne Schieber was born at 6 lbs 9 oz and 19 3/4 in long at 1:05pm. She is perfect.
I knew there was a reason I pinned so many things. Recently I have been cleaning/prepping/nesting before the second baby comes. I started by going through my pinterest "cleaning" list and went to work. Below I have put together some of the best cleaning posts I have found.
Cleaning linoleum floors: This is a non toxic cleaner that has made my floors shine.
Pillow Cleaner: These things can become disgusting from your sweat to the dust in the air.

Oven Cleaner: I do have an oven that cleans itself, but it takes forever, it gets really hot, and it makes my house smell. I prefer to use this non-toxic cleaner below.

Stovetop Vent cleaner: Who knew this thing was up there? Yet so dirty. If this cleaning tip does not work I would just buy a new one.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner: I am an avid Norwex user and I love this toilet bowl cleaner.

This is the last chance P and I get to spend together before the baby comes. I wanted to make sure we got to do as many things as he wanted while Mommy still could. We had such a great time I want to make sure I document those times before little sister comes so I can cherish the moments and laughs we got to have.
Monday: Porter has a small obsession with playing in the sand. Our church has a sand volleyball court so we went to Target and bought some sand toys. We then went to the sand box and "digged" for as long as we could. (While at target we were in the female product isle, P picks up a bag of pads and says "mommy diapers.")
Tuesday: The KC Union Station has a planetarium that is playing Big Bird. P and I went to this show and then went to see Daddy at work. It was such a nice day that we went back to the sandbox and "digged" some more.
Wednesday: We went to the Kansas City Zoo with all of our cousins. It was a bit crazy at first because it was one adult on two kids. The kids had a great time. We saw the polar bears, the gorillas, the penguins, and so many more animals.
Thursday: I had a doctors appointment so P went to Aunties house. At the doctors appointment the baby was measuring small so we I had to come back to get a sonogram. In the end the only reason for measuring small came from a small baby. Thoughts were we may be leaking fluid and needed to make sure everything was ok. P and I did not get to spend much time together, but when we got home we found an unexpected animal in the basement. We found a snake!!! My initial thought was let Drew get it, but I did not want to give it an opportunity to crawl around my house, so we had to kill it. We both felt pretty powerful after that. Thursday night we got to go to dinner with Grandma and Grandpa.

I really needed something for our baby girls headbands. I had seen some pretty expensive holders on etsy so I figured I would see if I could make something myself.
Wrap the cylinder with material and tuck the extra material on the ends into the ends of the cylinder like seen below.
2 cylinders with removable lids (see details of size below bought at Michaels)
Not pictured: scissors and hot glue gun
Steps:
Lay out your material and remove the lids from the cylinders.
I kept the material double lined. Roll the cylinder to measure how much material you will need for the length and width.
Cut material to fit each cylinder.
Pull the material as taught as you can and add the lids to the ends.
Then hot glue the edge of the material so the flap does not come up. And it will help with your frays.
